Why SERVPRO? We answer our Phone!

2/22/2023 (Permalink)

Where has customer service gone? SERVPRO has never lost it.

Do you ever feel like customer service is a dying art? I’m not just talking about waiting on the phone for 45 minutes trying to get through the “automated system” and talk to an actual human being, I’m talking about human interactions with businesses that make you want to return to that business and recommend that business to friends and family who inquire.

In the restoration industry, word of mouth and return customers mean the world to us. It’s not only the confidence in knowing that we cared for them the right way the first time, but it’s a customer entrusting us to care for them again…that is what really reassures us that we are doing a good job.

So, when did customer service start to be less important? When did people stop caring so much about the entire experience the customer is having and look at them as someone who they are obligated to “Take care of” or “Help” I think many customer service skills have become less important due to more and more interaction via the internet and remotely working.

At SERVPRO, we cannot do Fire Restoration, Water Restoration, Mold Remediation, and Bio-Hazard Clean-up from a remote location. We have had to stay front and center in people's lives, always, even though a pandemic. We are very much a hands-on company, both literally and figuratively.

What we hope to hear as a small business serving the Willamette Valley, is that our customers had a good experience with our services. Because when we come into a home or business that has experienced a loss, we want to leave our customers in a better mood than we found them in…at every single visit.

Heart to Help!

-Benefits and time off. SERVPRO offers both paid vacation, sick days, and offers medical and dental insurance coverage.

What Does SERVPRO Offer?

5/13/2022 (Permalink)

Let’s face it, this is an interesting line of work, Disaster Clean-Up & Restoration.

It’s not for everyone, squeezing into crawl spaces one day and responding to crime scene clean-ups the next.

I think the driving force for any employee who comes on at our franchises is an appreciation and drive for helping people.

Helping people is indeed something we do each and every single day at SERVPRO.

Also, the wide variety of services we specialize in can transfer across the board when it comes to this industry.

Someone may start at a water technician and find that they excel and enjoy being a part of the fire team more. We have employees find their passion in areas that they did not start in all the time.

In case you are curious about the kind of work we perform and the diverse services we are trained in, here is a list of our more common services:

-Water Mitigation

-Fire Restoration

-Mold Remediation

-Biohazard Clean-Up

-Crime Scene Clean-Up

-Carpet Cleaning

-Duct Cleaning

-Furniture & Contents Cleaning

-Document Drying, Recovery, and Restoration

So if you are looking for a job that helps people each and every day consider joining our team of SERVPRO Heroes.

The Importance Of Locally Owned And Operated

5/3/2022 (Permalink)

As the months and years pass, many businesses here in Salem and Oregon are operated and owned by out of state investors. Many of the homes that are bought outright in cash are sold to California transplants. Our State is attracting more and more people who want to relocate here, our state is also one of the most heavily costly to live in due to people wanting to move here.

What is the importance of buying local and using local services? Have you ever wondered why the cost of goods is more costly at a small general store than at a local Walmart? This is due to the big corporate businesses like Walmart being able to buy in bulk for dirt cheap prices (because they are buying so much).

The difference between goods and services is that services tend to be along the same cost whether or not they are a large or small business. But using local services that are owned and operated within your area is highly beneficial and cost effective. Local vendors have more information on current conditions within your area, laws about services you are requesting, rules for planning the services, and locally specific management perspectives than that who are out of state owned or new to the industry. Using local vendors also helps support community within your area.

When we think about community we see small shops, banks, and grocery stores, where a mother of two can talk to Mr. Policemen on the corner, call him by name, and ask how his mother is? If you take away the local human community element…all you have is a big empty corporate suit selling you goods.

Our SERVPRO franchises have been locally owned since they were started. The family that owns this company still oversees operations and shows up to work each day.

The difference between a small business and a large business is that in a small business you can usually go to the owners office and knock and enter to ask a question. You can’t do that at Walmart.

We should love buying local and sourcing local goods and services. It builds your network, encourages strength in small businesses, and is beneficial to the dying art that is small business ownership.

Plus, if something comes up that you need help with, you can call and get an answer. Rather than speaking to someone overseas after being on hold for 15 minutes.

Stars, check boxes and a yellow check We aim for 5 stars!

Here at SERVPRO we take pride in our work. We have built a very knowledgeable and skilled group of professionals. Read below of why people choose SERVPRO. "Hope and Radi showed up on time and got right to work. They were kind and so professional. When I would go check on them, they were busy and seem to be enjoying each other’s company. They did an awesome job. I would recommend these two ladies to anyone who needs to have a helping hand in cleaning a HUGE mess. Our mess was a discharged fire extinguisher. What a mess. Thank you Hop and Randi, it was a pleasure meeting you both.     Kesha and Leighton did an amazing job! Kesha was a perfection, making sure everything is documented right. They were nice and really helpful! I was happy to have them. Thank you Leighton for cleaning the water in the bathroom floor, living room, and bedroom. They put 3 Dehumidifiers in the unit. Thank you Kesha and Leighton. I'm not a client, but a fellow business in the area, but I can attest to the dedication and commitment that the company has towards taking care of a family or business in need during a natural disaster. Their willingness to do anything it takes to ensure those who are affected by flood, fire, or even mold infestations is by far, hands down second to none. I have worked personally for other restoration companies and SERVPRO does the job the right way. It's all about the people and not the bottom line." They say the greatest compliment is a referral or a review. For more reviews, check out our website, Google and Facebook.  Choose SERVPRO!

Everything promised has been DONE ON TIME or AHEAD OF SCHEDULE. The whole team has handled a difficult situation with incredible professionalism and grace. This has taken a tremendous amount of stress off us, as we are working from out of state (in a pandemic!) to mitigate and repair the fire damage. Coronavirus SERVPRO of Benton County and Linn County are trained professionals for cleaning for the Coronavirus

The COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic has reminded all of us how important it is to properly clean the surfaces and objects we handle.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), cleaning and disinfecting are separate processes. Cleaning removes dirt, oils and most surface germs. Disinfection kills (or deactivates) remaining germs.

SERVPRO® of Benton County and Linn County is qualified to clean and properly apply disinfectants according to the CDC’s protocols.

We have numerous years of experience in cleaning and disinfecting contaminants, including infectious bio hazards. We have specific training and the appropriate equipment to go beyond standard cleaning services.  More recently, our professionals received additional training certifications regarding COVID-19 decontamination.

Many SERVPRO cleaning products include products the CDC recommends for other coronaviruses (such as SARS).  The EPA has just added three more of our branded disinfectants to their approved product list!  Although there has not yet been product testing against COVID-19, we can assure our community in and around Boulder that we follow all of the CDC-recommended guidelines.

We clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces such as:

  • Counters and tabletops
  • Doorknobs
  • Light switches
  • Toilets & other bathroom fixtures (faucets, handrails, tubs & showers)
  • Tablets, keyboards & other office (home or business) equipment

We also clean soft surfaces such as:

  • Carpets & rugs
  • Upholstered furniture
  • Exercise mats

The CDC recommends cleaning and disinfecting the following areas:

  • Kitchen & dining areas
  • Bathrooms
  • Schools, classrooms, conference rooms
  • Retail spaces, including
    • Sales counters
    • Racks, shelves
    • Hand-rails & elevator cars

When fire happens in the work place.

4/25/2019 (Permalink)

This business went through a terrible fire. Closing the owners to close their doors for the time being.

While there are many reasons why a fire can start, many business fires start as a result of not paying attention to many different fire hazards in the workplace.

While every workplace is different, there are some common fire hazards to watch for in your business.

Heat Generating Machinery

Hot machinery and heavy equipment can pose a fire risk. Be sure material that is combustible is kept away from sources of heat and are unplugged when not in use. Never leave equipment on overnight.

Broken Electrical Equipment

Fires caused by faulty equipment are the most common type in the workplace. Be sure to look out for loose or damaged wires. They need to be replaced immediately. Also keep your equipment checked and up to date.

Faulty Fire Alarms

Be sure to check fire alarm systems and equipment often to make sure they are still in working order. If batteries run out your fire alarms will not sound in the case of a fire or smoke. It is important to make sure you have functional fire alarms in your office.

Overloaded Sockets

Having too many things plugged in the same socket can be dangerous. Be sure to put one plug per socket and do not exceed 300 watts in the entire socket. This can reduce the risk of a fire in your workplace.
